BEAT THE WINTER BLUES EVENT - FEB. 17, 10
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO SONYA TISDALL AND ALL WHO HELPED TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL EVENT AND DOING AN OUTSTANDING JOB!
ANOTHER GREAT BIG THANK YOU!
On behalf of all of us at the Women In Need Society (WINS), we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Campers Village for inviting us to participate in their donation drive and camp out February 5, 6 & 7th! A very special thank you to Shaun Arsenault and Nicky Lalande who camped out on the roof top all weekend to raise awareness for the Women In Need Society and Inn from the Cold.
We truly appreciate your generous donation of time and support!
To begin, words cannot express our gratitude for all whom were involved and supported the 1st Annual Beat The Winter Blues Drive and Fundraiser. As many of you are aware, this year was the launch of this event. It was wonderful success due to all of you.
The Committee Members worked exceptionally hard to the success of this event. Please join us in offering our personal gratitude to Sandy Punia, Kathryn Heath, Stephanie Shaw, Kathy Mendham, Anka Bonai , Terri Robinson, and Dana Lougheed. All Committee Members were integral to the success but again, a special mention to Sandy Punia and Kathryn Heath. We would like to further make a very special mention to Stephanie Shaw who worked extensively on the donations and contributions, filling half a 3 tonne truck from a few of her invitees prior to the event and accruing sizable donations from non-attendees.
This event provided both the Calgary Food Bank and Women in Need Society (WINS) to be the charity of choice. We are very pleased to say that a combined $11,200 in monetary and food contributions and 2 ½ trucks filled with donations for WINS were accrued during both the drive and fundraiser. This is an incredible beginning to an annual event that is intended to grow substantially in size next year.
We again want to thank our major sponsors :
Rundle College Primary’s Student Drive alone accumulated over 840 lbs of food and 5 WINS containers!
We would also like to thank Child at Heart Children’s Store for a very generous donation of items for WINS.
Without an exceptional Devin Morrison , GM Teatro; Steve Goldworthy, Daryl & Michelle Gough, Britannia Wine Merchants, Kathleen Kenny, Principal & Pamela Cook, Director Pre-School Kindergarten, Rundle College Primary; and the 2 organization’s Coordinators, Kristen Brown, Julie Brewster & Brook Hunter, CFB; Cindy Storozinski, WINS, the Beat The Winter Blues would not have been possible. An idea is only an idea without a great team that is so dedicated to the cause. Thank you to Paul Morrisette , President of the Board, CFB and Carmen Sparrow, Executive Director WINS for attending and supporting the fundraiser. My sincerest gratitude to you all.
And last but certainly not least, to Cory Mack, for her time and support for the Beat The Winter Blues event. They say laughter is the best medicine, I believe it is the best everything!
Thanks again to all of you, from all of us at WINS, we truly appreciate it!
