Volunteers fulfill an important role at WINS. They bring spirit and enthusiasm to many areas.

 

Thrift Store Volunteers

Our Thrift Stores can always use LOTS of extra hands. Donations of clothing and household goods are received daily at WINS four Thrift Stores. Staff is always in need of assistance to sort through donations, hang clothes on racks and place merchandise on shelves.  If you would like to:

• gain some work experience
• meet new people
• just help out

WINS Ambassadors

Throughout the year the Women In Need Society (WINS) takes part in events such as clothing donation drives at Community Centres and Malls, as well as displays that raise awareness for our organization. We also are grateful beneficiaries of many 3rd party events.

WINS is in need of volunteer "Ambassadors" to be the face of our organization and the women and families that we serve at these various community events. WINS Ambassadors would talk to the public to raise awareness about our services and programs as well as help out with our community clothing drives for our 4 Thrift Stores (i.e. helping people get donations out of their cars and into our trucks). Events are generally on a Saturday and sometimes Sundays. Shifts generally range from 3 to 4 hours.

If you have an extroverted personality and enjoy interacting with people we would love to have you join our team! You would go through an application process and once aboard, we would provide you with an orientation. WINS Ambassadors would be trained regarding WINS' mission and its programs and services. Ambassadors would be contacted on an on-call basis, as opportunities arise.
